Affiliate membership is open to anybody of good character* who is interested in learning more about forensic investigative genetic genealogy (FIGG). It is also the first step to becoming a professional-tier member (i.e. associate member or full member) for those who are FIGG practitioners or are considering becoming one. Affiliate members may apply immediately to upgrade to an associate or full membership if they fulfil the relevant criteria.
Affiliate members receive a discount for online events as well as a small discount for in-person events. They gain access to the membership portal (except areas restricted to professional tier).
As of 2025, the annual affiliate membership fee is £49.
* Applicants who have been convicted of a violent crime (e.g. robbery, rape, assault, murder, manslaughter) are ineligible to become a SoFIGG member.
Student discount
Full time undergraduate students are eligible for discounted affiliate membership (£29).
